What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a skin-rejuvenating procedure in which tiny needles create controlled micro-punctures in the top layer of skin to improve overall texture and appearance. When done properly, microneedling is relatively low-risk and can have real benefits for your skin.
How is the treatment done?
A topical numbing cream is applied for 30–45 minutes. The Dermapen device is then passed over the treatment area, creating thousands of very fine channels in the skin. A serum (often hyaluronic acid or a growth-factor serum) is applied during and after.
What microneedling can help with
- Acne scarring
- Stretch marks
- Fine lines and skin laxity
- Uneven tone and large pores
Aftercare
Expect mild redness for 24–48 hours and possible flaking on day 3–5. Avoid direct sun exposure and use a high-factor sunscreen. Most patients see best results from a course of 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
