Having a check-up every six months to maintain your teeth is a great way of keeping your mouth in a healthy condition & preventing more serious dental problems.
Oral Hygiene
Visiting a dental professional regularly to have your teeth professionally cleaned will reduce future dental problems with prevention, screening and early problem detection. Usually twice a year to maintain optimum oral health. More often when you have a higher risk of tartar build up or periodontal concerns. Your teeth are cleaned & polished leaving them feeling shiny & clean. Sometimes a fluoride treatment will be advise to treat enamel decalcifications or dental sealants to close exposed or discoloured fissures to prevent cavities.
Fillings
Tooth coloured filling material is placed into a cleaned cavity to restore the function and strength. Longevity depends on the size of the cavity. When more than 50% of the tooth requires filling, a porcelain filling/restoration is a great option as a longer lasting alternative.
Root Canals
A dental abcess causes the nerve to devitalize usually due to a deep cavity in your tooth. The infection is treated & the tooth cleaned, sealed and restored with special root treatment materials. The nerve of the affected tooth is removed while the tooth is retained and restored.
Tooth Extractions
When a tooth has been irreparably damaged and cannot be restored the tooth is removed and the infection treated.
Once this has healed other restoration options are available to replace the missing tooth to restore function & aesthetics.
Mouth Guards/Gum Guards/Bite Plates
We supply customized preventative protection to be worn for high risk activities to protect against accidental mouth trauma.
A Biteplate treats the symptoms of excessive grinding due to stress, occlusal interferences and TMJ dysfunction. They are usually worn at night and help reduce the wear and tear on your teeth.
Pedodontics/Childrens Dentistry
Dental care for children include making your child feel safe and comfortable while practicing preventative general dental care and dental education.
Visits are kept short to not overwhelm and prevent future dental phobias.
We ensure a safe and comfortable environment for ease of treatment. In more complex cases theatre facilities are available for treatment.
Sedation
For anxious and nervous patients we do offer sedation. This is done alongside an experienced medical professional to administer while the dental professional do the necessary treatment.
Home Care Tips
You should brush your teeth twice a day;
morning and evening. Keep in mind the following:
- Take care not to brush with too much force or to use a brush that is too hard. This can cause the gums to recede, root exposure, sensitivity and abrasion lesions on the teeth.
- Taking care not to under brush and to reach all the areas of the teeth. A good guideline to effective brushing is to take 2 minutes, spending 1 minute at the top and 1 minute at the bottom.
- Flossing once a day is essential; brushing on its own only cleans about 50% of your mouth as the bristles do not reach in between your teeth.
- Mouthwashes, tongue scrapers, interdental brushes and other dental additions can be used as indicated and advised.
