Punch Biopsy

A "Punch" biopsy is done to sample skin rashes and small masses for histological diagnosis. After a local anaesthetic is injected, a biopsy punch (1 to 8mm in diameter) is used to cut out a cylindrical piece of skin. The hole may be closed with a suture, or left unsutured depending on the size and heals with minimal scarring to no scarring
